Plant Zones

Soil type, slope, hydrology, existing vegetation, and prevailing site conditions all must be considered at the time of plant installation. Cardno categorizes plants according to six different plant zones, based primarily on saturation level.

Native Plant Zones

Each zone has seasonal variations relative to water levels. For example, a wet prairie may have several inches of water during the spring months and then experience a drying down during summer months.

Note that a native plant species may grow in more than one zone. To determine which plants are suitable for your site, contact us to have it professionally assessed before planting begins.  The nursery team can provide on-site assessments and use our NativeSpec™ software program to help in proper specification.
