Indiana Pollinator Week June 19-25

May 17, 2017
Earlier this week, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb proclaimed the week of June 19th - June 25th "Pollinator Week." This coincides with the National Pollinator week, declared by the US Dept. of Agriculture and the US Dept. of the Interior (click this link to find Pollinator Week activities near you). Gov. Holcomb's proclamation recognises the importance that native bees and other pollinators play in our food supply and natural ecosystems.

Show your support that week by planting a native pollinator habitat in your home or place of work. If you already manage a native planting, consider enhancing an existing natural area with pollinator-friendly native plants.

Cardno Native Plant Nursery has a diverse selection of native nectar- and pollen-producing species, including milkweeds (Asclepias spp.). For more information about supporting pollinators, see our guide here. You can also visit the Xerces Society for tips on establishing native pollinator habitat in the upper Midwest.
